At Nusatuna, sustainability is a core value that guides our business practices. We are committed to protecting the environment, supporting communities, and fostering responsible business growth. This commitment extends beyond preserving marine ecosystems to include the provision of today’s needs while safeguarding the future. We are committed to carbon-neutral operations, reducing greenhouse gas emissions to fight climate change. Our sustainable fisheries practices ensure healthy oceans through science-based management and collaboration with stakeholders. We are dedicated to innovation, maintaining transparency at every stage of the process, and empowering local communities, especially women, by creating opportunities that strengthen coastal livelihoods.
Our goal is to become the world’s first carbon-neutral tuna factory, taking full responsibility for our carbon footprint and contributing to a more sustainable future.
In 2023, we partnered with Blueyou to conduct a comprehensive life cycle assessment (LCA) to identify key areas where we can reduce our environmental impact across operations. Building on these findings, in 2024, we began collaborating with Zeroe to implement a GHG emissions tracking dashboard—a critical tool for real-time carbon management and setting measurable reduction targets.
Guided by these insights, we are actively developing and implementing strategic initiatives aimed at reducing emissions. These include investing in energy-efficient equipment, working towards the transition to renewable energy sources, and adopting broader sustainability practices throughout our supply chain. Through these ongoing efforts, we are committed to leading the seafood industry toward a low-carbon, climate-resilient future.
To effectively coordinate and harmonize Nusatuna’s sustainability initiatives and programs, the Company has developed a sustainability seafood policy that integrates all departement. The sustainability seafood policy serve as guidance for sustainability implementation throughout the Nusatuna departement including the following :
1. Ensuring Responsible Sourced Seafood
2. Ensuring Responsible Fishery Management
3. Ensuring Traceability and Transparancy
4. Investing in Small Scale Fisheries
5. Upholding Human Rights in our Supply Chains
6. Collaborating for Continuous Improvement
